Are your college plans changing due to coronavirus? Are you a school counselor or educational consultant trying to give your students all the options? Are you a parent helping your child make the best choice in a difficult situation?
Whether a gap year was always an option for your students or family, or whether you are completely new to this concept, EnRoute is here to help.
A gap year is a time for personal growth, career exploration and life skills development. You may wonder if a meaningful gap year is still possible this upcoming year.
I believe it is. Since a gap year is focused on personal goals, there is no one right way to do it. We don’t know yet how free our movement will be over the next 18 months, but I am confident that the online, community-based, regional, national and international opportunities afforded to gap year students are up to the task of developing young minds so this period of time is productive, meaningful, and – yes – fun! If done intentionally, you can argue a gap year is the best way for students to spend the next year and very well could develop them into more prepared, mature and resilient college students.
I’m offering many online educational opportunities so students, parents and counselors can fully understand the plethora of gap year options and how to decide on what to do based on our evolving situation. Flexibility and open-mindedness are key components to planning a gap year in 2020!
