Gap year counseling is built on familiarity and trust. For a period of time, I become a close advisor to my students and their parents. This is a special relationship, and one that I enjoy building with each family I work with.

Every consultation begins with a free introductory conversation. I use this time to educate students on the options available and brainstorm the possibilities based on their individual situation.

I find that this call becomes critical for some students in choosing to take a gap year. Some even tell me that our conversation exposed them to ideas or programs they didn’t even know existed. Others recall that they learned a gap year was more affordable than they originally thought. Some families choose to become clients while others launch into the planning process on their own, feeling assured in their ability to make it happen.

Visiting my students Nora and Lucia in South Africa last fall.

Whether you are a parent looking for a guiding hand in planning or a student who feels stumped in finding the right set of opportunities, I encourage you to reach out for a introductory conversation. You have nothing to loose (it’s free!) and it will definitely help you feel more confident in deciding if a gap year is right for you.

To arrange a call or in-person meeting, parents can fill out an inquiry form on my website or email julia(at)enroutegapyear.com. Students can fill out this questionnaire, which will serve as a jumping off point for our chat. I look forward to hearing from you!
